The final statement of the International Date Council emphasizes the importance of the sector in achieving economic and social development, protecting the environment and improving the level of food security
The final statement issued by the meeting of the third session of the Council of Members of the International Date Council, which was held in Riyadh, stressed the importance of dates as a strategic crop and product with superior nutritional value and great economic, social, environmental and cultural importance, and the importance of the palm and date sector in producing countries in achieving economic and social development and protecting the environment. The important role of the sector in improving the income and living standards of workers in the field, and in improving the level of food security in rural areas.
The statement valued the International Dates Council’s organization and activation of international cooperation, to achieve sustainable development in the sector at the national, regional and international levels, in the areas of production, manufacturing, marketing, international trade, development research and information exchange, in addition to meeting the challenges facing the sector.
The statement urged the countries producing and importing dates that were invited to join the Council as full or participating membership, to complete the deposit procedures from countries wishing to join the Council through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, by following the legal and official procedures stipulated in the statute, and extending the invitation to countries. Others to join the council.
The statement praised the efforts made, emphasizing the decisions and recommendations issued in previous meetings of the Council’s Executive Body and the Council of Members.
The statement recommended approving the Council’s strategy and proposals for the work plan for the years (2024 AD - 2025 AD), the financial policies regulations and the regulations organizing the work, activities and projects of the Council, approving the formation of the Council’s Financial Supervision Authority for the years (2024 AD - 2025 AD), and approving the formation of joint technical committees.
The statement welcomed the joining of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the Arab Republic of Egypt, in addition to the joining of some organizations, bodies and associations as participating members of the International Dates Council, valuing the role of the Kingdom’s government and all participating countries in making the current session’s meeting a success.
