Except for extremely necessary cases to preserve your life or prevent infectious diseases, examination, or treatment, mewa.gov is not allowed to transfer your personal data outside the Kingdom or disclose it to a destination outside the Kingdom unless:

  • The transfer or disclosure does not harm the national security or vital interests of the Kingdom.
  • Adequate guarantees are provided to maintain the confidentiality and protection of the personal data being transferred or disclosed, ensuring that the standards of personal data protection are not less than those stipulated by the law and regulations.

  • Except for the condition specified here, the competent authority may exempt mewa.gov, on a case-by-case basis, from complying with any of these conditions when it individually or jointly assesses with other parties that the personal data will have an acceptable level of protection outside the Kingdom, and this data is not sensitive.

This platform retains records for a period specified by regulations, including the minimum data:

Without prejudice to any severer penalty stipulated in another law, the penalty for committing the following crimes due to its failure is:

  • Imprisonment for a term not exceeding (two) years and a fine not exceeding (three million) riyals, or one of these penalties, if it is intended to harm the data owner or achieve personal benefit.
  • Imprisonment for a term not exceeding (one) year and a fine not exceeding (one million) riyals, or one of these penalties, for anyone who violates the provisions of transferring personal data or disclosing it outside the Kingdom.

While there is no specific provision in the law, without prejudice to any severer penalty stipulated in another law, any individual or legal entity covered by the law's provisions violating any of its provisions or regulations is subject to warning or a fine not exceeding five million riyals. The fine may be multiplied in the case of repeated violations, even if it exceeds its maximum limit if the violation is not sensitive.

Public prosecution is responsible for investigating and prosecuting violations before the competent court regarding these offenses.
